The Best Beginner Fender Squier Bass Guitars
I remember a day when you had to fork out a ton of cash to get a bass that played well and sounded good. With the shift in technology, Fender is putting out an army of instruments that not only play well, sound good but also only cost a couple of hundred bucks.
So without any further delay, here are my favorite Fender Squier basses for beginners and players on a budget.
Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar bass
There is no doubt the Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar bass has a major cool factor, but in addition it is short scale, which practically means that the neck is a little shorter than a “regular” long scale neck, thus creating less tension on the strings and making it easier to play.
The Fender Squier Affinity Precision Bass with P/J configuration is a gift from the folks at Fender. As I mentioned previously, the Jazz bass tends to have more tonal options with 2 pickups, and a traditional Precision Bass has only a single pickup. But IN the P/J configuration, Fender added a Jazz pickup to the mix to make this bass extremely versatile! If you have smaller hands, I would recommend going with the Jazz bass option, but otherwise, this bass is a very cool option for under $200!
The Bottom Line
Whether you are a beginning bass player looking for your first instrument, or you are a seasoned player looking for the bass you aren’t afraid to ding up, all three of these Fender Squier basses are great choices.
